Wurlitzer 616 Jukebox

Hier ist also nun die Wurlitzer 616, mit der alles begann...

Now here's the Wurlitzer 616 with which it all began...

Immerhin habe ich mittlerweile den passenden Verstärker dazu bekommen.

At least I managed to get the proper amplifier for it.

 

Ein schönes Teil, oder?

Der riesige 15 Zoll elektrodynamische Lautsprecher war in einem schlechten Zustand: Die Membran war hässlich geflickt, wies neue Risse auf und das Mittelteil war abgefallen. 

The huge 15 inch electrodynamic speaker was in a bad condition: the membrane was poorly repaired and there were new holes and cracks in it and the middle part had fallen off.

Nach behutsamer Reparatur sieht das schon etwas besser aus, 

und er funktioniert und klingt nicht schlecht.

After cautious repair it seems to look much better, and it's working and it doesn't sound bad.

 

Ausserdem konnte ich Schlösser für die Fronttüre und die Cash-Box beschaffen und den Ersatz der roten Catalin Kunststoffplatten abklären.

Besides I managed to get the right locks for the front door and the cash box, and I more or less clarified the replacement of the red Catalin plastic parts.

Leider geht es mit der Restauration manchmal auch in die andere Richtung: Unser Kater hat das Platten-Kabinett der Jukebox einmal als Schlafplatz erkoren und beim hastigen Verlassen dann die Türe komplett zerlegt. Seitdem habe ich dieses Loch zugeklebt.

Unfortunately the restoration sometimes also moves backwards: our tomcat had chosen the disc cabinet as sleeping place, and when he left it in a hurry, he completely wrecked the front door.

Now I closed that hole for him.

Es ist also schon ein bisschen vorangegangen, aber die grossen Schritte (Mechanik und Gehäuse) müssen aber noch eine Weile warten.

So it moved foreward a little bit, but the big steps (mechanics and cabinet) still have to wait some time.
